Blended Learning

Internationally the lack of interest of teachers to improve the teaching methodology, has hurt the student learning. Now we call learning that the student memorize texts and repeat, there is also a lack of students to learn the English language .Why? they need to be motivated.

Many people can not speak or write well our own language, illiteracy in Peru is still a significant percentage nationwide. According to the results of the National Household Survey 2012 6.2% of the population over 15 years old can not read or write, also the former CEO of Alternative Basic Education (ABE) of the Ministry of Education, Luis Vasquez said there are more than one million illiterate people in Peru, 75% of them are elderly (over 65 years) and the rest are young people aged between 15 and 20 years. If we have problems with our mother tongue even more we will have with a foreign language; that is where the methodology of teaching and the role of the educational institution is demonstrated.

It has been observed that in many institutions teachers develop their English language classes mechanistic, verticalist and traditional way; in this context teachers do not use the resources needed to achieve the expected learning. Not only in learning the English language we see this kind of problem but also in all areas. The generations are changing; knowledge too, so you need to create an interest in the student; This will be involved in the methodology of docente.Los audiovisual materials, ICT and use of technology are responding to our demand, allowing an innovative, creative and effective alternative for educating process.

What is Blended Learning?

Blended Learning will help with the demands of education, Blended Learning is a formal education program in which a student learns at least in part through delivery of content and instruction via digital and online media with some element of student control over time, place, path, or pace. While students still attend "brick-and-mortar" schools with a teacher present,face-to-face classroom methods are combined with computer-mediated activities.Blended learning is also used in professional development and training settings.

Advantages

Blended instruction is reportedly more effective than purely face-to-face or purely online classes. Blended learning methods can also result in high levels of student achievement more effective than face-to-face learning. By using a combination of digital instruction and one-on-one face time, students can work on their own with new concepts which frees teachers up to circulate and support individual students who may need individualized attention.

"Rather than playing to the lowest common denominator – as they would in a traditional classroom – teachers can now streamline their instruction to help all students reach their full potential." Proponents of blended learning argue that incorporating the "asynchronous Internet communication technology" into higher education courses serves to "facilitate a simultaneous independent and collaborative learning experience.

Disadvantages

Blended learning has a strong dependence on the technical resources or tools with which the blended learning experience is delivered. These tools need to be reliable, easy to use, and up to date, for them to have a meaningful impact on the learning experience. IT literacy
can serve as a significant barrier for students attempting to get access to the course materials, making the availability of high-quality technical support paramount.

Other aspects of blended learning that can be challenging is group work because of difficulties with management in an online setting.Reportedly the use of lecture recording technologies can result in students falling behind on the materials. In a study performed across four different universities, it was found that only half of the students watched the lecture videos on a regular basis, and nearly 40% of students watched several weeks' worth of videos in one sitting.

We need to train us, if we train we can get higher teaching techniques and strategies behind to class a motivating class and different each day. So we know how to help them learn and make this a fun and assertive process.

Teaching and Learning  Through Stories

Teaching is a complex process, teachers should be able to teach any in many ways what they want their students to learn and be motivating and creative. Many English teachers use comics, stories or anecdotes to teach content. In this case we must know how to make this possible.

Before telling the story ...
We must find ways to organize them and feel interested. For example if your students are children you can organize them by animal colors, etc. And that they feel according to the object they chose.

During the story
Use a repetitive action in the story that the students can memorize and repeat. You can include phrases. You can use images that interplay something of the story. Dramatize some points of the story emotion, danger, etc. Have the students guess what happened in history so you have to take breaks.

After the story
Ask if they like, draw, paint; Discussing the story. Order the sequence of the story using images and finally finally read the story and we all take characters from it.

The stories make our life a movie!

--CLIL --

           CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING

Language is used to learn as well as to communicate. It is the subject matter which determines the language needed to learn. CLIL refers to situations where subjects, are taught through a foreign language with dual-focussed aims, namely the learning of content, and the simultaneous learning of a foreign language.

This approach involves learning subjects such as history, geography or others, through an additional language. It can be very successful in enhancing the learning of languages and other subjects, and developing in the youngsters a positive ‘can do’ attitude towards themselves as language learners.

I think it is a proposal that is not applicable in all realities and that we must first analyze the context in which we want to apply, since there are many countries in America that still have deficiencies in the insertion of foreign languages as an area; Much more difficult to learn other areas with a foreign language.
